Organized and taught by Spenser Theberge, the program is a series of research and practice sessions for movement artists and creators, focusing on the development of site-specific performance work. Participants meet monthly, learning strategies from guest artists Samantha Blake Goodman (MAPS), Chris Bordenave (No One Art House) and Sarah Ashkin (Ground Series), while working on their own creations individually or in groups. The works-in-progress will culminate into a public presentation at the end of the series on January 27, 2019.

Spenser Theberge is a performer and creator based in Los Angeles. A former dancer with Netherlands Dance Theater and The Forsythe Company, Spenser now works as a freelance artist, his work presented across North America, Europe, and Asia. Spenser is a proud faculty member of CalArts Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance.

Sarah Ashkin is a choreographer, educator, and curator using dance as a tool for embodied political intervention. As a body based artist, Ashkin uses weight, task, gesture, humor, intimacy, and musicality, to poetically illuminate socio-political stories of people and place. Her work is made in response to specific sites of inquiry and situates itself between postmodern dance, performance art, and ritual. Ashkin earned an MA in Dance from Roehampton University and a BA from Wesleyan University.

Christopher Bordenave was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Upon graduating from high school, Christopher went on to study at the Ailey School and the LINES Ballet School acquiring his BFA in Dance. In 2014, Christopher founded No)one. Art House, an organization that promotes and produces quality interdisciplinary art such as dance, film, and photography throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

Samantha Blake Goodman is a choreographer and casting director based in Los Angeles. Samantha is the founder of MAPS, which stands for Movements Arts Performance Space and is dedicated to cultivating the contemporary and traditional arts of the Afro-Latinx and Caribbean diaspora in Los Angeles.
